
On July 22, 2010, UAE Embassy officials visited St. Albans school in Washington, DC, where Dr. Al Saghira Al Ahbabi, Mr. Firas Alkhatib, and Ms. Dima Najjar were invited to speak to a group of 15 high school seniors who are participating in a summer program on public policy and international relations. The program also includes a study of the Gulf region, in which the students have focused on the development and rapid growth of the UAE. Dr. Al Ahbabi and Mr. Alkhatib discussed economics, security, the UAE's large non-national labor force, women's issues, and the UAE's renewable energy initiatives. The presentation included a short film on the history and development of the UAE, and concluded with a question and answer session.
Masdar CEO HE Dr. Sultan Al Jaber and Dr. Fred Moavenzadeh, President of the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, gave remarks to a crowd of MIT alumni. The Masdar Institute, a private research institution located in the UAE, is a joint-venture between MIT and the Government of Abu Dhabi. It aims to be the first educational organization of its kind in the Middle East. HE Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the US, opened the program while Dima Alfaham, Chief of Staff to Ambassador Al Otaiba, moderated a question and answer session.
Upon witnessing the hardship the Pakistani people are facing in the wake of the recent flood disaster, the UAE government and UAE foundations have rapidly mobilized to deliver food, shelter and other emergency relief supplies.
RALEIGH, NC (20 August 2010) - UAE students attending US universities chose to spend their summer vacations in North Carolina with Habitat for Humanity, building affordable houses for those who lack adequate shelter.
The students, who are recipients of an Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) scholarship, traveled to North Carolina from various schools including the University of Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan State University and Penn State University.
